Three hot tips on how to live a FANTASTIC life!

1.  Be Fantastically You

Be yourself.  Don’t try and imitate others because at the end of the day, you may be great at imitating but who will remember you?

2.  Be honest About What You Are

You don’t have to be anything other than what you are.  Own yourself, warts and all.  Be open to other’s feedback about how they see you too.

3.  Serve it up!

Bring what you have in your kit bag, the things that make you unique, to the table of life and serve it up!  Have a go at life.

Think about the sun. When it is shining broadly, it graces everything with a warm glow. But when you shine it through a magnifying glass, suddenly the intensity has the power to burn. Focus…is ENERGISING.

So to help you keep your focus and not be side tracked by the obstacles life throws at us to test our vision, a great question my friend always poses to me when I want to start complaining about something is, “How would it be if…” This then places whatever my issue is in that moment into the positive of the issue being solved and I can work my way backwards because I have the hope of the issue being able to be resolved. Immediately the issue loses it’s debilitating power because suddenly possibilities open up.

I think Dr Jim Rohn said it like this, “Why not you? Why not now? Why do good things have to happen to other people?” I love this quote as it DEEPLY impacted me at a time when I had little hope for the future. Why can’t it be us who get what we want in life?

If you can imagine yourself in the freedom that comes from a resolved issue and imagine how you would be feeling and acting in that state, it can be quite invigorating and motivating.

In 2002 I went through an horrendous season in my life following the birth of my son.

When I saw this video it just was like an arrow went right through me. It was just a resounding, “YES!” from my spirit.

I saw this video and it really impacted me again about how important it is that we appreciate and enjoy every second that we have on this planet. That we willingly and with full heart passionately pursue that which is in our hearts – our dreams and our visions.

There is an old saying and I know it to be true, how sad it is that a musician should go to the grave with a song left unsung within them and a tune left unplayed.

I encourage all of you to look inside and find your passion, connect with it, breathe it, dream it, live it and see how different life becomes for you.  See the sparkle of joy enter your world!

Coming away it was like I had sat down in my old favourite chair and breathed in joy. Philaeo type love they call it, the love of one for a friend or a familiar object.

What is so astounding to me is that until a week or two ago we didn’t even know each other existed. We were both out there “tweeting” away to our friends. Our tweet paths crossed and a conversation about roses spurred a desire to meet.

Who would have thought that out of that one visit we would have been able to share our joyful meeting with the world, organise for Women Can girls to go for a “Mama Mia” night up the hill with Chanty. It just shows me that there are always precious and valuable little pockets of friendship just waiting for us to find them.

“To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most-requested column I’ve ever written.” My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:

1. Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

4. Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick.. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

7. Cry with someone. It’s more healing than crying alone.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past so it won’t screw up the present.

12. It’s OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn’t be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don’t worry; God never blinks.

20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don’t take no for an answer.

21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don’t save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.

23. Be eccentric now. Don’t wait for old age to wear purple.

24. The most important sex organ is the brain.

25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.

26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words ‘In five years, will this matter?

27. Always choose life.

28. Forgive everyone, everything.

29. What other people think of you is none of your business.

30. Time heals almost everything. Give time, time.

31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

32. Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

33. Believe in miracles.

34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn’t do.

35. Don’t audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

36.. Growing old beats the alternative – dying young.

37. Your children get only one childhood.

38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d grab ours back.

41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

42. The best is yet to come.

43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

44. Yield.

45. Life isn’t tied with a bow, but it’s still a gift. 

I have to say that I love what I do…

Geoff and Lee are off on a trek, end to end, of the Bibbulmun Track.  It’s a 1000km journey and by no means an easy trip.  They will be traveling from Perth’s foothills to Albany in the South.  When they arrived at my home, they had just come from a training session at Surge where they’d had a bit of a butt kick regarding their food and training regimes.  For Geoff it was exactly what he expected but for Lee it was a bit of a shock to the system.  It will be interesting to see how their adventure goes forward.  I’m really looking forward to seeing the footage on TV.

I’m going to post some updates on their progress from time to time because I think these guys are really inspirational.  You don’t have to be a bloke to have an adventure, but to take on Western Australia bushland is no mean feat.

Ps Wilson with the Solich Family

I met with Ps Wilson from Uganda again tonight.  It was a lovely time of sharing stories and hearing what God is up to in Uganda.

During our discussions, I made the decision to definitely go to Uganda in November and I believe Andrew will be coming with me as well.  We have much to offer and much to learn, so I believe the exchange of cultures will be significant and beneficial.

We talked about what Pastor Wilson is doing in Uganda with the women and the children.  He has a school of 43 children, mostly orphans or from poor families.  He explained the culture there and what we could expect from people.  We also talked about the micro business he has set up with the women, teaching them how to sew so that they can make money for their families.

As he spoke of the women and the sewing business, I immediately felt that I need to take sewing machines with me. Many of the machines used are the old foot pedal operated machines.  They reminded me of my grandmother who hated her new electric machine in comparison.  I couldn’t help wondering what a few new machines could do for families, as the old saying goes, “Give a man a fish and he will be back tomorrow for another but teach a man how to fish and he will have fish for life.”

I am excited that God would choose me for this mission.  I believe that we all have a purpose in life and mine has always been to serve God and humanity through the giftings that he has given me.  I cannot wait to work with the singers and musicians.  That will be my very great pleasure as I already know that these people can sing!

 This will be my Woman of Spirit Personal Challenge Quest for 2009 through Women Can International Inc.  I’m so excited as when I created the program for Women Can International Inc it was exactly with this in mind!
