When I was growing up I fell in love with Barbara Streisand.  She is in my view one of the best female vocalists that have ever lived and I also really enjoyed her movies as well. Yentl was very special!

In fact I was once told by a sound engineer that he didn’t think my voice was commercial enough, that it was too like Delta Goodren and Barbara Streisand.  Well he could have had no idea he was comparing my voice to two of the most successful diva’s in the world.  At the time I thought it was an insult but on reflection it was the greatest compliment.

So I thought I’d share with you all one of the songs that I learned when I was in high school.

Today I posted some messages on Facebook and Twitter. eg “You are what you are so quit trying to be someone else and just enjoy being you! :) ))” and “Your value is not in what you do, what you say or what you think…your value is in who you are. Be yourself.”

Then tonight I stumbled over this lovely unplugged song on YouTube.com, so I thought I’d share it with all my beautiful readers.

Enjoy!

If you’re struggling with motivation, sometimes it’s because we lose track of the end point. Focus is a brilliant part of keeping energised.

Think about the sun. When it is shining broadly, it graces everything with a warm glow. But when you shine it through a magnifying glass, suddenly the intensity has the power to burn. Focus…is ENERGISING.

So to help you keep your focus and not be side tracked by the obstacles life throws at us to test our vision, a great question my friend always poses to me when I want to start complaining about something is, “How would it be if…” This then places whatever my issue is in that moment into the positive of the issue being solved and I can work my way backwards because I have the hope of the issue being able to be resolved. Immediately the issue loses it’s debilitating power because suddenly possibilities open up.

I think Dr Jim Rohn said it like this, “Why not you? Why not now? Why do good things have to happen to other people?” I love this quote as it DEEPLY impacted me at a time when I had little hope for the future. Why can’t it be us who get what we want in life?

If you can imagine yourself in the freedom that comes from a resolved issue and imagine how you would be feeling and acting in that state, it can be quite invigorating and motivating.

Happy days ahead for all of us!

Just a quick tip!

This is a fabulous video with a great message! Actually made me teary, seeing all these people, bringing so much joy to complete strangers. What a beautiful world we live in.

In 2002 I went through an horrendous season in my life following the birth of my son.

This article, Out of the Blues,  was featured in Pearls Women’s Magazine published in 2007 in Perth, Western Australia.  It is my story of how I overcame post natal depression.

If I were a door mat, it would be okay to walk on me.

If I had no name, it would be okay for you to call me names.

If I were unable to think for myself, it would be okay for you to fill me full of what you think.

And if I were a child, it would be okay for you to try to discipline me.

However, I am not a door mat, so stop wiping your feet on me.

I have a name, so I don’t need your labels.

I can think for myself, so allow me the space to form my own opinion.

And finally, discipline yourself…cause I don’t need a new parent, the previous ones stuffed up just fine.

I like me just the way I am!
